We’re going all in for sustainability.
At Brouwerij ’t IJ, we’re taking a big step towards a more sustainable future. From March 2025, all our beers will be available in deposit bottles or recyclable cans. Each type of packaging has its own character, while the flavours remain unchanged.
Deposit bottles: less waste, more reuse
By switching to deposit bottles, we reduce the CO₂ emissions of our packaging by as much as 85%. Instead of disposable bottles, we now use bottles that can be refilled. This saves energy and raw materials.
Cans as a striking table feature
Besides being highly recyclable, cans also turn out to be a great choice for preserving the quality of our beer. On top of that, a can offers a beautifully large canvas for bold designs. A real eye-catcher on any bar or table.
Can, bottle or keg: every beer its own match
We’ve carefully looked into which packaging best suits our different beers and your favourite drinking moments. Whether you enjoy an IJ beer from a bottle, a can or freshly poured from the tap, the taste and quality remain the same. All beers will continue to be available on keg for draught.
A nod to our past
Our new returnable bottles take our beers back to their origins. We’re using the same bottle model as when Brouwerij ’t IJ first started in 1985, but with a modern twist. Featuring the iconic ostrich on the label and a fresh look, our new bottles and cans are fully ready for the future. We’ll gladly raise a glass to that!
